How coaching works

I deliver my coaching services primarily by telephone or video Skype to any location. I meet with clients 2 – 3 times per month. Sessions are 60 minutes long. I am available for email and brief telephone calls between sessions. Written resources and fieldwork materials are shared via email. Fees are paid on a monthly basis and vary according to the number of monthly sessions.

My goal as a coach is to empower my clients to have satisfying, fulfilling and successful lives — both personally and professionally.  Because each person is unique, their definition of  “the good life” will also have unique features.  It’s my job to help them discern what that means for them, at this point in their lives — and to help them attain it.

My coaching is informed by my background in social work/counselling, my coach training (with three coaching schools) and extensive personal and professional development.

In each coaching session, I draw on a variety of  skills, assessments and resources to assist my clients to:

  • clarify what they really want  and value
  • develop strategies for how to get there
  • do the inner work and take the outer actions in support of their goals
  • overcome obstacles along the way and celebrate their victories.

When pursuing important goals and dreams, it’s not usual to become disheartened or fearful at times.  At those times, I compassionately help my clients get “unstuck” and  moving forward again.

With coaching support, my clients report they:

  • Improve their focus and ability to stay on-track.
  • Increase their sense of  accomplishment and competence.
  • Experience greater business success.
  • Reduce their stress and experience greater well-being.
  • Are inspired to take effective action toward their goals.
  • Take much better care of themselves.
  • Communicate more effectively at home and at work.
  • Are better able to maintain their boundaries with others and to say “no”.
  • Feel more optimistic and excited about life.
  • Work through relationship issues more easily.
  • Make more money.

An excerpt from the International Coaching Federation website:  http://www.coachfederation.org:

Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives.  Coaches help people improve their performance and enhance the quality of their lives.

Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs.  They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful.  The coach’s job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.
